SPU is produced by Kalpataru pictures and is written and directed by Ramprakash Rayappa. The trailer generated a lot of interest and contemporary directors acting in it too helped in the movie gain attention.

SPU starts off in a bizarre fashion and stays ridiculous most of the time until the viewer gets a hint of the reason. But by then the suspense is off and you wait for the predictable ending. The problem with SPU is that it fails big time in implementation despite having an average line. The story is nothing new, but the screenplay in attempting something novel falls flat. There are many giveaways and that spoil the suspense if any that existed.

Vikranth sticks to doing what he has been doing for long. Mysskin does nothing different as well. Suseentharan performs decently. Athulya Ravi tries to be cute in an underwritten role, while the rest, a crowd go about their jobs with little fuss.

Sujith Sarang has a lot to do behind the camera and comes out good. Jakes Bejoy’s background score is average. Dialogues are standard. Editing by G Ramarao is OK.

Director Ramprakash Rayappa makes it kind of watchable.
SUTTU PIDIKKA UTHARVU is an average idea gone haywire.
