RAAT AKELI HAIN – MOVIE REVIEW

A NETFLIX release, RAH is produced by RSVP movies and is written by Smita Singh and directed by Honey Trehan.

RAH is a murder mystery set in a very interesting location and intriguing circumstances. That is a major plus. The film starts off impressively and the suspense continues throughout the film culminating in a rather “soft” climax. Though the intensity wheels throughout the journey, there is a feeling of manufactured narration that siphons off the thrill factor. The second half is less exciting than what it should have been. The characterization is interestingly done with all wearing the suspect hat. The twists and turns that you usually expect are not many, but the suspect hat moves from one character to another and that keeps the viewer engaged.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui comes out trumps, but again it is not a character that has many contours. Radhika Apte too is as confident as you can expect in such roles. Tigmanshu Dhulia is fantastic and so is Shweta Tripathi. The rest are good too.

Cinematographer Pankaj Kumar is in splendid form with fascinating tones and textures. Sneha Khanwalkar’s background score is minimal and the songs are decent. Sreekar Prasad’s editing could have shaved a few minutes off. Dialogues are good and Honey Trehan in the direction department is brilliant.

RAAT AKELI HAIN is a good watch that doesn’t disappoint.

RAAT AKELI HAIN – RATIONAL !!!

3/5
