PAAYUM OLI NEE YENNAKU – MOVIE REVIEW

Paayum Oli Nee Yenakku is an action thriller film written, produced and directed by debutant Karthik Adwait.

Thrillers are the latest sensation in Tamil cinema and there is that continuous effort towards delivering something different in terms of concepts or plot. PONY makes one such difference and tries to dump everything on that single aspect of an otherwise ordinary plot. There are times when the film reminds you of a much better Naan Mahaan Alla that was much more intense and thrilling. This film begins on the same note but just fizzles out. But yet credit to the writer, the film manages to stay afloat by knowing its limitations and strictly keeping it linear without digressions. The neat screenplay without much aberrations is an advantage though like in most such movies the “police logic” is always found wanting.

Vikram Prabhu delivers a decent performance. Vani Bhojan is dull, but OK. Dhananjay is good. The rest are decent.
Sridhar’s cinematography is fine. Mahati Swara Sagar’s background score helps. The songs are okayish. Prem’s editing is neat. Dialogues are decent and direction is efficient for a debutant.
