ARE YOU OK BABY – MOVIE REVIEW

ARE YOU OK BABY is written and directed by Lakshmi Ramakrishnan. The film is produced by Monkey Creative labs.
Lakshmi Ramakrishnan’s filmography has decent works to her credit, especially her last film HOUSE OWNER that was an intense drama. In this film LR tries to grapple with a sensitive subject entangling itself into legal angles. Surprisingly the writer makes a mess of the proceedings by casting herself and her show in the script that significantly takes away the attention from the core plot of the film and ends up making the film a show about LR. The execution is flat, narrative is inconsistent and the film juggles on an strong with characters that barely finds mention in the script The characters on whom the plot is built hardly find space and communication. The other problem with the film is the predictability and the clichés that hover over the script until the end.
Lakshmi Ramakrishnan should stick to the small screen that makes her look big. The film has a good cast but they got little to do. Samudhrakanni, Abhirami, Mysskin, Ashok are all decent. Mullayarasi is the pick of the lot.
Krishna Sekhar’s cinematography is OK. Illayaraja’s background score tries to work some intensity on the drab proceedings. Dialogues are below average. CS Prem’s editing could have been strict. Direction is below par.
ARE YOU OK BABY never really cares !!
ARE YOU OKAY BABY – NOT OKAY !!
