EXPEND4BLES – MOVIE REVIEW

Expend4bles (also known as The Expendables 4) is a 2023 American action film that is the fourth installment in The Expendables film series, following The Expendables 3 (2014). It is directed by Scott Waugh from a screenplay by Kurt Wimmer, Tad Daggerhart, and Max Adams, based on a story by Spenser Cohen, Wimmer, and Daggerhart.

The film starts off with some decent expectations, but then within a few seconds you realize this film is on a free fall nose diving deep into the ocean. The screenplay is as cliché and as old as it can gets. Even the characters are awfully bad caricatures of the old. The execution would make a novice film maker cringe. Humour is crass, action is average and the narrative annoyingly boring. There is nothing that is even remotely interesting in the film. This film despite a talented cast is a huge letdown.

Sylvester Stallone is in a very short role and looks haggard. Jason Statham tries his best to look serious in this shoddy script. Tony Jaa has some little fun. Iko Uwais is wasted. Duolf Lundgren has little to do.
Cinematography by Tim Maurice-Jones is decent. Music by Guillaume Roussel is average. Action scenes are just about OK. While the CG is ordinary. Dialogues are poor and direction sub standard.
