KANNAGI is a feminist social drama that is produced by E5 Entertainment and written and directed by Yashwanth Kishore.

The objective is clear, KANNAGI as the name suggests would be a film that would unabashedly espouse the cause of woman across all periods in life and also at various stages of life. The director has tried a form of presentation that is new, but it does take some time to get used to the sudden shifts of characters without proper grounding makes it tough to sympathize with the character. When the four different stories congregate, despite the surprise it doesn’t quite make the impact. There are some very ordinary scenes that are supposedly feminist in nature that turn out silly. The film despite having a grandiose, preachy plot and a lot of sub plots doesn’t get to the depth of it and turns out very flaky.

Ammu Abhirami is neat and Vidhya Pradeep is OK. Shaalin Zoya overacts. Mounica is decent. Keerthi Pandian is fine.

Ramji’s cinematography is average. Shaan Rahman’s music direction works in parts. Sarath’s editing doesn’t impress. Dialogues are ordinary. Direction is middling.
KANNAGI falls flat !!
