Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire is an epic action drama film written and directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur. T. This film is an adaptation of the director’s first film “UGRAMM” in Kannada.

Welcome to the fiefdom of Prashanth Neel. The trailer set the expectations straight and Neel unabashedly transports us into his kingdom. First few minutes of the first half does get interesting but very soon the lazy writing gets uncomfortable. The wait to get to the crux of the story is pretty long and it is only towards the interval that we get a glimpse of it. You got the usual PN mother template, but unlike in KGF here the travel is throughout. The second half is when the drama begins and it would take much more than an alert mind to grasp the proceedings. There are a lot of complex layers with subplots that PN keeps weaving and it becomes difficult to absorb them all as the narration takes no break from the action. The violence is brutal and the action scenes are engrossing but on the flip side the characters apart from the main lead have nothing to say or do. The incessant action, the unrelenting drama is definitely an overload.

A muscled up gigantic Prabhas makes the right moves, he has little to deliver in terms of dialogues and instead lets his muscle do the talking. Privthiraj is good in his role. Shruthi Hassan doesn’t impress. There are hordes of supporting actors who do their job well.

Bhuvan Gowda is striking behind the camera. He is helped by splendid production design and able art department. Ravi Basur sticks to his strengths in the background score and songs. Both follow the KGF prototype. Ujwal Kulkarni’s editing is top notch. The dialogues are good while direction is standard.

SALAAR is KGF overdone !!

SALAAR – SALAD !!
