SINGAPORE SALOON – MOVIE REVIEW

Singapore Saloon is an Indian Tamil-language coming-of-age film written and directed by Gokul, and produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under Vels Films International.

A typical underdog story but set under different circumstances, SS take the melodrama to a different level and the 80s cliche is tough to endure as the film painstakingly tries to progress albeit some help from comedy. That too doesn’t last long. In the second half the director infuses some more emotional masala and gets to bring preachy by touching upon various issues and as usual without proper understanding of the topics.

RJ Balaji has little to do in a weak written role. Sathyaraj is good. Robo Shanker and Kishen Das are okay. Lal doesn’t impress.

Sukumar’s cinematography is good. Vivek Mervin’s songs are below average. Selva’s editing is OK. Dialogues are standard and direction ordinary.

SINGAPORE SALOON is bald !!
