AKKARAN is an action thriller produced by Kundram Productions and written and directed by Arun K Prasad.

We get to see a lot of MS Bhaskar in films these days and as the trailer revealed we have MS play the protagonist in this action film. The first few scenes create the much needed intensity to capture the viewer’s curiosity. But slowly we begin to realise it is all superfluous as the film turns out to be a typical revenge story with no ingenuity of any kind. The screenplay is dull and the sequences formulaic as the film has nothing new to offer save for some contrived drama and below average action scenes.

MS Bhaskar as the action star is a dud while as the father he is his usual good self. Kabali Vishwanath has little to do in a very small role. Akash Premkumar is OK along with the female leads.

Anand’s cinematography is average. Hari’s background score is middling. Dialogues are standard. Direction is below par.

AKKARAN belongs to the 80’s and is disappointing !!
