Zebra is an action crime thriller film, co-written and directed by Eashvar Karthic and produced by Bala Sundaram, S. N. Reddy, and Dinesh Sundaram under, Old Town Pictures and Padmaja Films Pvt Ltd., respectively.

ZEBRA starts off strong but struggles to maintain its grip as it progresses. The premise is intriguing, centring around two characters in a setup that holds promise. The first half builds momentum reasonably well, leading to a captivating interval block that sets the stage for what could have been an electrifying second half. However, the screenplay falters post-interval, with repetitive sequences and contrived developments sapping the narrative of its earlier energy. Subplots, instead of adding depth, muddy the waters, leaving the story feeling convoluted and unnecessarily complicated. The villain’s role, despite potential, lacks substance, and the runtime feels overindulgent, testing the audience’s patience. What begins as a gripping thriller slowly unravels into a lacklustre affair, weighed down by its own inconsistencies.

Satyadev stands out with a compelling performance, showcasing a range of emotions that anchor the film.Priya Bhavani Shankar is decent, though her role doesn’t demand much. Dhananjay brings his usual charm but is let down by an underdeveloped character. Sunil and Sathyaraj fall into clichés, delivering performances that are serviceable but predictable.

Cinematography by Sathya Ponmar enhances the film’s visual appeal, complementing the action sequences. Background score by Ravi Basrur is impactful, elevating key moments, though the songs fail to leave a mark. The dialogues are well-written, but the direction, while competent, can’t overcome the script’s flaws.

ZEBRA starts with a sprint but loses its way midway.
