PON MANICKAVEL – MOVIE REVIEW (HOTSTAR)

Produced by Jhabak movies this cop film is written and directed by Mugil Chellapan. Prabhu deva is back to Kollywood after a long hiatus and in a never before role.

PM has the all the trappings of a cop movie, but only that it very well could be the movies of the 80’s if you could ignore the sparsely used gadgets of today. The romance is boring with no chemistry between the lead pair. The hokey songs are less an obstacle and more annoying. A very prissy plot with scarce ingenuity in the screenplay makes it a very monotonous watch.

A starched Prabhu deva delivers nothing new in this fresh avatar of his, as are his antique dance steps. Nivetha Pethuraj has just one relationship in the film and it is the weakest. Mahendran is over used these days and Suresh Menon is decent.

KG Venkatesh’s cinematography is neat. Imman’s music is average. Shivanandeeswaran’s editing is OK. Dialogues are standard and direction pretty ordinary.

PON MANICKAVEL is a dull fare.

PON MANICKAVEL – PONGAL !!
