MAAMANITHAN is produced by Yuvan Shankar Raja and written and directed by Seenu Ramaswamy.

MAAMANITHAN is the story of a protagonist and his life travails that is told in an unassuming manner. The first half is too slow for comfort and takes a good time before the film gathers pace and drama in the second half, especially in the last 30 minutes. Though the film prides itself on non commercial compromises it still reeks of contrived screenplay and uninspiring narrative. The film largely rests on its honest and unpretentious approach in its content and presentation.

Vijay Sethupathi is back to where he belongs and delivers as expected. Gayathrie gives a strong performance. Guru somasundaran is okay in an okayish character. The rest are decent.

Sukumar’s cinematography is good. Ilayaraja and yuvan Shankar Raja ‘s musical score doesn’t excite. Editing by Sreekar Prasad is neat. Dialogues are standard and direction is fine.

MAAMANITHAN is a two hour long melodrama that’s not for everyone’s consumption.

MAAMANITHAN – MANDI !!
