Produced and directed by MS Raj. Marina Puratchi is a documentary on the famed “Jalli Kattu” protest that created quite a sensation across the country.

This film is an assorted recollection of the remonstration. It guides the viewers through the initial stages of the protests the people behind it and the way it turned out to be a mammoth spectacle that surprised everyone. Though there is nothing new the viewer would not know, as information today is available on a gargantuan scale it still makes for decent viewing to see all of it put in a way for the viewer to comprehend. It does come with its drawbacks in its cliché representation of “caste politics” and its juvenile assimilation of certain facts.

Marina Puratchi offers nothing dramatic and it sticks to the “faithful” narrative that pleases its audience.
