Saaho (2019)

UV Creations and T series product SAHOO is written and directed by Sujeeth. Prabhas after the monster hit BAHUBALI is back on screen after a long gap. SAAHO has had heavy pre release hype.

The film begins with a prologue and if you don’t get, don’t worry, the film gets so painstakingly messy and chaotic that you would not care whatever happened. Suspense and twists are either predictable or trifling. The screenplay is extravagantly comical and despite the upsurge before each scene, they either come crashing down or are hysterically dumb. Scenes dumber than its predecessor ensure that you are numb to the proceedings on the screen. The much talked about romance is a drab and there is nothing else that entertains despite a thousand characters parading the screen in the choicest attire and most sophisticated locations. SAAHO is terribly lengthy and the respite comes after nearly three hours of hullabaloo on screen.

Prabhas is exposed in SAAHO. BAAHUBALI camouflaged most of his shortcomings in a splendidly entertaining script and here in a film that is obsolete in logic and commonsense, Prabhas in his bad wig fails to deliver. He comes across wooden in action and stoned in romance. Shraddha Kapoor has just three expressions to deliver that include the ones in the songs too. There are many blink and disappear reputed actors who look dapper without any substance. Neil Mukesh tries his bit, so does Arun Vijay. Mahesh Manjrekar and Chunky Pandey are repetitive while Murali Sharma is the only one who impresses. Mandira Bedi is in one saree, one look.

Technically SAHOO is a C grade action thriller shot by A grade technicians with a A plus budget. Madhie shoots the film in a slick way with able support from the SFX team. Action scenes are above average. Ghibran works his background score to elevate the viewer’s numb senses. Songs by an array of composers are bad on screen, but listenable. Dialogues are dim and editing by Sreekar Prasad confusing. Direction by Sujeeth is abysmal.

SAHOO is a colossal waste of 350 crores and a film in which the characters on screen run riot without bothering if anyone is watching them.

SAHOO – OH NO !
