DASARA is a period action adventure film that is written and directed by debutant Srikanth Odela. The film is produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri.
DASARA begins rather tamely and slowly as it gets to the crux of the plot. The cultural and social events lighten up the proceedings as well as the screen. The plot is nothing unusual and the director has smartly used look and presentation to elevate the lazy narrative. Politics, caste and sermons make up the rest of the film and predictability creeps in at most places. The staging doesn’t look natural with many disconnects in terms of properties to the period that the film was supposedly set in. What works for the film is the raw and rustic appeal of the film.
Nani powers the film throughout with a wonderful performance. Keerthi Suresh does well and the lead pair look good together. Deekshith Shetty, Tom Chacko are decent with the rest of the cast.
Cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan looks authentic, though the graphics fall short. Santosh Narayan’s background score along with the songs is appealing. Dialogues are good and editing by Naveen Noli is not tight. Direction for a debutant is good.
DASARA is a decent celebration !!!
