Soorma (2018)

DILJIT DOSANJH: Portrayed the character of an ace Indian hockey player Sandeep Singh to perfection and depth making it feel realistic. The effortless characterisation by Diljit is par excellence in every frame executed earnestly and in all sincerity to truly reflect the player on the celluloid screen.

TAAPSEE PANNU: Does justice to her role as 20 years old state level hockey player Harpreet, bringing the freshness of a small-town girl who could play and walk and talk like a sportsperson.

ANGAD BEDI: Plays Bikramjeet Singh the brother of Sandeep Singh,a selfless character exceptionally well with restraint, emotion, love, hurt, angst…. all for his brother.

OTHERS:KulbhushanKharbanda, SatishKaushik and others have portrayed their role remarkably well.

STORY: SOORMA (warrior) aptly traces inspiring Sandeep’s journey to stardom as top hockey player of the country, the lows after an accidental gunshot that left him waist down paralysed, his willpower and his subsequent rise from the ashes to reclaim his spot in the national team.

DIRECTION: Shaad Ali’s captivating direction focussed more on the reality of events and less on the melodrama depicting a great array of Sandeep’s character.

SOORMA(2018):Sandeep is the soorma, central theme and true warrior in the film. The film highlights the true events in the life of this young ace hockey player who donned the national colours and captained the national team, a cherished dream of childhood.
